Finished, Under the African Sky, and ATC

I am happy :)
Was a fine Read from Jane McLellan

I did have a after thought of keeping her green trees green and the color green is important, but I do have a green table:)
What colors will you pick mmmmm?

I did connect the to red rings that go in between the animals because the last row seemed to have a slight ruffle, not sure why.

I also finish up another the Artist Trading Card, I love this little doll.

I enjoy the needle book that morphed from this trading card!

Lovely ATC card, like the idea of making it a needle case.

    1. You would say that, :) It is kind of an ink blot animal if you know what I mean and with the way you like cats I can see where that is all you see :)

  5. Congratulations on completing this magnificent doily!! It's gorgeous! I'm sure Jane M will agree that you made fabulous color choices! It looks great on all the backgrounds. Also, I appreciate your describing the details of some of the techniques as you went along. I'm amazed how quickly you finished this!

It is a 'tour de force' of tatting, and it is a brilliant design. Jane has been too modest about her design achievement. The block-tatted animals are so unique and in dark colors stand out magnificently. However, the other rounds of the doily also show new and exciting techniques, Those of us familiar with these techniques would fully appreciate the skill involved here. As she said, she wanted to create a doily that showcases 'modern tatting', plus told a 'story' and she succeeded!

I don't think I'll have the time to try this doily during the upcoming Challenge, but it is definitely on my list of 'Must Do' tatting projects!

    1. I agree with you about Jane and wanted to try this when she first made this! you will get around to it that's the fun of tatting you do what you want, but we all have lists! I really feel that it is the only doily with animals and that to me is really neat. I wanted to purchase some lace at a lace store once and asked the lady why one piece of lace was more costly(since they looked like same thread size and work)? she said lace with figures in it are more valuable I thought that was interesting, maybe it is because they tell a story:)

  8. How beautiful it all turned out and a superb season-contrast to Jane's .
May be one of participants will choose a wintery theme ?! ;-) Oh, and could the wool on the lambs' backs become fluffier -- just a thought.
If I ever get around to making this, it will have to be a monsoon setting , in keeping with my favourite season.

  10. Who-oo Carollyn, that's fabulous!!! Well done. I love the colours of the trees. I love the colours altogether and the idea of an African sunset. You're right about the inkblot animals - it's funny how different people see them as different animals.

    1. Yes, I was afraid to put the bead in the head cause it might change that feature, but I guess it didn't, I was thinking little bears cause I live where we see little black bears, on our trips picnic in the mountains.
