Inside Motif of Purse and Making a New Shuttle

Start with 3 colors
Add black when you get to it

Finish off and I will show the netting in a couple days.
I started making  shuttles and while working with them had to remove (sand off) bumps that stick up.
the first pictures shows more bumps that got in the way of threads.
My husband placed the posts in to wrap the thread around.
That takes some soldering.
Solid brass lead free and lead free solder!

  3. Those are very pretty shuttles. I too am interested in the metal used. I have to watch which metals i touch, but I might be interested in acquiring one of these for my collection.

  4. They are brass, my favorite shuttles for speed are the cheap plastic and some flat wooden ones, if I called those a 10. After I sanded the bumps I would give them 7.5 to 8 only reason now is when putting the shuttle through the picot loop when connecting a ring, I have to remember to make the loop large enough and to put shuttle through. With plastic shuttle I could force the shuttle through sometimes. Hopefully that makes sense! Love the weight, and They make me feel like royalty tatting in one of those really big dresses :)

  10. That is amazing! Do you just hold multiple shuttles in your hand at once? I always get annoyed tatting like that, but the results are so beautiful!

    1. yes, I don't care for holding 4 shuttles at once, I feel like I am making that bobbin lace, (boy, those lady's are crazy huh! :)) But I figure it doesn't last long. It's a small motif.
