Snowflake Time!
Just thought the " Mille-Fleurs" by Joelle Paulson, with six flowers might work! I used regular Josephine knots because of the snowflake effect the flat larger petals show up more, but with color I would use her puffy petal.
This one is done form the "Let it Snow" book and she states it's from " Tatting Times".
The largest is form the Handy Hands patterns that are reprinted from the Public Domain records. I added the Josephine Knots to chains here and there. I have a demo on that on YouTube by Madtatter80 another AKA.
I used to make quilting squares and got into it and found this stuff that you could copy a photo onto fabric and then use the fabric. I was greatly disappointed after 2 years (unfinished) the picture had faded (hidden in a box) I really don't want it to fade anymore I want to find something to stop it. The hankie with his name and birth date is on there,it was his. I thought "Crafty Cat Corner" might appreciate this picture. I did this after getting the book "The art of Manipulating Fabric". The snowflakes I just laid on there.
I love your snowflakes, I don't know the book Let it snow, that is a beautiful pattern, Last year Alison, Diane and me did a challenge of a different snowflake every day from the beginning of December to Christmas Eve, I have started putting some pictures ready to do the challenge again, how about joining me this year and posting a different snowflake every day (24) until Christmas are you up to it? Margaret
The the answer to your question, Last year we did 20 odd it was suppose to be 24 but we had a late start, they were all different, some from on line patterns, some from books, this year there will be a repeat of my favorite ones with a few new ones, but as long as they are different ones each day, in the end we had a few repeats between us, but who cares we did a different snowflake and to be honest it was fun, I know I did white, Diane tried out colour and Alison did both, we had fun between us. In fact if one discovered a new snowflake all the better. Be pleased if you join in, you never know you might have a new one we did not find last year. Margaret
That's interesting to find out that the pictures fade, I'm not happy about that because I've been adding them to my blocks, I wonder if there's something you could paint over to keep the colour, will have to look into that. Love the snowflakes, am thinking I might have to make some small ones for a winter block. Briony x You asked about the Old Man's Beard on the Autumn Block, yes, its that fluffy yarn, not in my opinion nice to knit with but good for other things.
Hi, me again I actually printed mine onto proper computer fabric paper, you peel the fabric away after printing and are left with the fabric picture. Briony x
After the long week-end of 11/11, which here in Flanders is dedicated to the rememberance of the death soldiers of WW1 and 2, I have a special thought for your husband. Tell him, and maybe other relatives as well. We shall never forget! My dad was 12 years old, when the Ameriacan tanks 'hell on wheels' liberated the city of Hasselt, where he lived. His dad had been shot recently by the Germans, and he lived like a street -child. He showed the tank, that came from Normandy which way to take on a crossroad. He stayed in contact with one of the soldiers, called Howard. A few years ago, my husband and I travelled to Tampa, Florida, where Howard lived , well in his eighties. He told us that he was the only one of his platoon who survived and he was very emotional to see us, after all these years. We were also emotional,, although we did not really understand what happened there. I only understand that it is very brave when a 2O year old boy goes to fight on a distant shore for a cause he believes in.
Hallo Ohhhhhh so schööööööne Schneeflocken . Wunderschön gearbeitet. Sehr aufwändiges Muster hast du gewählt . Darf ich fragen wie du sie so steif bekommst?? Dass sie so fest sind?? ganz liebe Grüsse Marlies
Tally Tatty comment is very true, both my parents fought in the the Second World War, my father followed though France, Belgium and into holland. For many years when we went abroad by car back in the early 60's. He called at a hotel. The owner was in the French resistant and he had the Germans in the hotel above and the English and the French resistant in the cellar, the Germans never found out they were there. One year we went back and he had died it was not the same, Dad never visited again he said he always wanted to see him as way of a thank you. My mother was on the high sea and I have a piece on my blog about her she's still alive at 92 she was we think 19 when she went to sea during the war. Anyway I also wanted to say to you that I have emailed Kristen but as yet had no reply, will let you know when I do. I don't have your email address so will leave you a comment on your blog. Margaret
My email address is tennbrown@gmail then add .com I still haven't any messages back from her. let me know if you do. Our country has a memorial day in may and that is more of a celebration day and honor for military combined with others bur November 11 is noted and some respect is given but people still work and go to school on this day so it is not as noticed as much as it should be here, Kinda sad.
