Tatted Lace Mouse!

I made these adorable mice with a pattern from Wanda's Knotty Thoughts and the link is here! Thank you sooo much I really had fun!

On some I removed the picot around the edge, just for fun.   After a making a couple, I changed a bit and started with the tail, so I can control the curl more

I am making a "quite book" for my toddler grandchild, they will go nicely with this nursery rhyme, hopefully you remember this one!
there is a slit, and I will add a little flap with a button, for the child's motor skills and to keep the mice in the clock when book is closed.

This is where the mouse ended when done.

Once again that was fun Wanda!

  1. They are all very cute, each with a different middle as well as the different colors. What a neat idea for a quiet book. Glad you enjoyed the pattern.

  3. Oh they are absolutely adorable and what a fabulous idea with the clock. I have made one of these mice covering a ring but far prefer your centres and the colours you have used. Must go back to the pattern again!

  4. Brilliant idea to make a book for the grandchildren using the nursery rhymes, and tatting together, it will introduce them to tatting and may get them interested in tatting for later years.
    Great mice

  9. I love tatting this mouse (rattie). I usually use a button instead of a doo-dad. Love the nursery rhyme idea!!

  10. Thanks, I like the buttons too and will do a batch of those soon, cause there are a lot of children's stories and rhymes with mice.

  11. What a lovely group of mice! They look as if they are planning some mischief! Your clockk-plus-mice is very beautiful, but nursery rhymes are a mystery to me. i know of them, but I wish someone would explain them to me.

    1. These can be short stories, or nonsense words, historical accounts, and some rhyme and are put to music and danced to or clapped to. They increase imagination and word skills. Some would not translate well at all because of language annunciation with rhymes. Some people recite them with unknowingly accounting the grim things like "Black Death" but is something children had to deal with long ago. Those particular ones have a happy dance and activities that has lasted through the ages. They are fascinating to me as an adult and I look at them in the way I just described.

  12. you got a great idea, starting with the tail! they are so "nice mice"!
You can laugh, but did you know that "mici" in italian means cats?!! (read like "me"- "che" as in cheers!) It's a mad world!

    1. That is funny, and I wondered before I posted this how the language interpretation would change the little child's play story to other countries. I guess there is need to have cats if the house has a mouse in the clock!

  13. This is a very creative endeavor and cleverly done! It will be a cherished keepsake book! I'm not normally a 'fan' of mice, but these are adorable - and they have been 'multiplying' around the web since Wanda shared her wonderful pattern!
