Tatted Candle Blunder!

Every thing went well, and I was modifying a pattern from Work Basket magazine

It was early in the morning and a bit in a hurry and grabbed the wrong bottle and like an idiot I kept going thinking I could blot it, it was thick glue "what was I thinking"

I just kept going .....
Well you can see it globed it was to thick to and too sticky.

This was the original pattern that is now public domain so you can see what I did with it.

  1. I really like your adaptation. I wonder if there is anything you can do to get the glue off after it has dried? Though tatting a new one would probably be the best way to go.

  2. I was thinking, I have a heat gun and might be able to melt it off. Well, I didn't like the beads I put on the handle so I am okay with making another one little differently, and it didn't take that long to make so I'll be okay :)

    1. Hope fully you can see the pattern I took a picture of, if you highlight it in blue with your computer and you hit print that should work. They are public domain but some people are working on trying to get complete sets and so they are not posting it, so any one can retrieve the information yet.

  4. I wonder if you could glue it onto some sort of background, and then varnish over it so the glue globs don't show. That's what I did with some of the pieces on my dragonfly pond, and it worked well.

I do hope you find some way to salvage it, because it is really beautiful.

    1. Thank you Miranda I didn't think of that, I was going to do another, it didn't take that long and I was going to change the handle part cause it seemed to bumpy anyway.

  5. How about sticking it onto card and using it as a picture. The glue may not show though. It's a lovely pattern and I like your adaption

  7. Madtatter, this is a lovely candle! You should rescue it!! Glue dissolves in the appropriate solvant. And cotton does not. So, try to find what this solvent is. Bathe the candle in it and wait until all the glue is gone. Don't inhale too much of all this stuff, though.

    2. No, no, no, it has to be the correct solvant. Contact the company!!if you use nail polish, you will ruin the tatting!!!!!!
