Tying Up Loose Ends

Well after I started the Monster doily, I started feeling guilt, I never finished (several tatted items) what I started for my daughter so I found it and then I remembered why.........
After making the tiny black motifs (26 of them) and finish the ends off, I had to make 26 flowers :(  and made first 4 in wrong color and a couple with 7 petals in stead of 8

This is how center of daisy looks at first, cut ends long for dramatic effect.
I really didn't mind the spokes, that part was fun! I think I will post the pattern, not sure if any one is interested.  Let me know.
It is those last two rounds that is annoying :(

But it is kinda cute and only a million to go ha ha and it is final round looks to be measuring in at 32 cm. or 12 and 1/2 inches size 40 thread. The chains hurt after a while so  I break it up with.....
:
this !  I am going a lot faster but had a time with remembering the numbers and so there are a couple of mistakes in back ;)  that I am not worried about cause the outer chain is right. Next round looks like a breeze!

  2. It's so beautiful, what a shame it's become tedious to tat! Alternating with another project could be the solution.

    1. I don't mind separate motifs in a doily but it just was all of them at the end :)

  3. Love the Daisy Doily & such vibrant colours ! I like how the daisies have a natural "unevenness". Do write up the pattern whenever you have the time. There will be many amongst us who'd like to make it down the line....

The 2nd doily also looks very nice !

Eager to see them both on completion :-)

    1. (it printed twice so I just deleted one.) Thank You, I think, that unevenness or curling just happens with such long chains, and not connecting them more at edges. It is pretty as a big finish, and some centers of daisy's I made smaller picots so the centers came out slightly different too.

  5. Wow! Pretty and unusual, but lots of starting and stopping. Worth it though! Good beginning on the big "M!"

    1. I know I should not complain, especially to you, who has done more than your share of starts and stops, with very little complaining too I might add.

    1. My daughter picked the color and she has a good eye for the modern look, cause I would not have picked these colors, but like how it is turning out. Thank You!

  7. Love the blue and black doily. The color choices are great. I never would have put those colors together but they really pop. I am also trying to finish up some big projects that I started last year. The monster doily looks like it's off to a great start.

    1. Thanks, I did not pick the colors my daughter did and she has a good eye for color choice and can say she picked the pattern out too! I have two hankies and another doily I was making up started and not finished. at least that is all I can recall for now but I have sooo many other plans too!

  8. You designed it? Bravo! It is wonderful.
I think Muskaan meant the uneven daisies comment as a compliment. The daisy is a care-free flower. It is often uneven and cheerful. Your daisies reflect that - beautifully. (Obviously, I agree.)

    1. Yes, I know she is a sweetie and studies tatting and techniques and looks and when you tat something you wonder you think on it a long time :)
I did not design it but it is so old now that the copy write for this magazine is public domain now.

    2. Thank you ladies :-) (blushing)

I like how the tiny tweaks you made to the flower made, gave them each an individuality and character !

  10. Oh thanks, I chose that brown because I think I am going to paint my table a cream color.
