Button Snowflake


This lovely simple to make snow flake was inspired by frivolenka Click on her name to get patterns an pictures of her beautiful snow crystals
Look close( click to enlarge)  for directions for this one, made with regular shirt button, don't for get only make two rings at a time at the holes and three sets in each button hole. Size 40 thread.

I do calligraphy and a little girl wrote this poem, I made this for a gift to her :)

    I love that snowflake! I'm not so much for buttons usually but that is lovely! Your calligraphy is gorgeous!

      Thanks so much, I am intrigued with the button too. and have used the tiny collar button and size 80 too it is fun.

      You know I will post a close up, I look at it all the time and don't know how to make that net, it looks like the flower petals are rounded it is very old some threads are broken but it is beautiful. I also noticed two size threads in the pattern too.

    Yes it's very nice. The underneath filet lace (which looks antique), is beautiful too.

      Yes I love it too but do not know how to make it, Ninetta said same thing. I will post some close ups of this if it will help you and I see two different thread sizes, too!

    You have inspired me to look in my bottom box!

    Your calligraphy is beautiful. Frivole practices calligraphy as well and maybe more tatters do as well. It is an art form I have always admired but never pursued. I wonder if, like tatting, it is not a lost art at all, just existing in smaller circles than once it did before. ??

    I agree now computers do a great job I guess like machines making lace, but there is something about making it your self like lace that is just fun and beautiful! I had a time with it because the paper I bought is wrinkly and a bit hard to draw the letters on and the ink spread a bit!
