It is not the name in the pattern book but one I gave it :) the name is "The Tatted Doily" |
So many failed attempts (post those later) and started about a year ago. |
One shuttle patterns are very floppy, and with so many attempts and mistakes, I found a tip on how deal with it... |
You're so brave doing a one shuttle doily. I've never been a fan of designs with bare threads showing. I can never get them all the same length. It's a pretty design though.
ReplyDeleteThanks I know what you mean and I found that the thread has a stretch to it too, and different kinds stretch more than others. But I think I am okay with this imperfection and think of it as natural looking and like that home made look to it. Where in other tatting I go for the trying to get it all the same.
ReplyDeleteIt does remind me of Queen Ann's Lace!! You have done a fabulous job!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. Very creative and really looks like Queen Anne’s Lace. Nice!
ReplyDeleteDas ist eine wundervolle Handarbeit. Sie ist sehr fein und gefällt mir!
ReplyDeleteYour research is very interesting and the result more and more beautiful. I look forward to see your flower in the spring and already dreaming of making one ! The idea is very original :-)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to post link of pattern send me your email mine is tennbrown@ gmail.com
DeleteThat's amazing. Not easy, but worth the effort because it does look like Queen Anne lace. Hair spray? Goodness, I'd have thought it would make the work sticky, but I haven't used hairspray for decades, so perhaps I'm not up to date.
ReplyDeleteWe have humidity here, where I live, and I am guessing you don't :)
DeleteWonderful work!
ReplyDeleteThank your all next round is funner it hold it together more!
ReplyDeleteWonderful work, hairspray never would have thought about using it, I wonder if it would work on snowflakes that need a little bit of stiffening
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing hiw it works out
Margaret
I bought a cheep one and tried it on snowflakes but it yellowed s bit, so I had to wash it out, worth it to try different brands.
DeleteSo dainty !!! Very interesting tip & process.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the next round :-)
Thanks, Ill show more pictures of before hair spray cause it really does twist up and annoys while tatting

Thanks for your word of encouragement :)
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, that turned out beautifully! I can almost see the chickory and sweet peas growing next to it! (And a wee bit of kudzu. . . and the humidity...)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
Ah you are so right, must have been around here at some point in your life!

ReplyDeleteAmazing doily!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ninetta!
DeleteI love Queen Anne's Lace, and I've been wanting to tat a doily for ages! I'm so glad you've found a pattern that looks like it. I've never thought to use hair spray.
ReplyDeleteI have started this so many times and the little rings just flip around and hide and I connect to wrong place and then start over again then I realize it the were stiff like the snow flakes then I wouldn't miss so much and it really helped.
