After making the first motif tie on the second shuttle and begin the split ring as normal.

Now it is kind of fun, to attach the center ring, to each space between the rings. Always remember to make the 2 double stiches then attach as you go then 2 more when done attaching the outer rings. |
Very interesting! I have this book, but I've shied away from trying anything because of all the bare threads. I'm terrible at measuring. I've enjoyed watching your progress!
ReplyDeleteYea I think it is odd, because things like bare threads and clunies are just not exact as rings and chains and it's hard to keep going knowing somethings is not perfect. I keep telling myself it is the overall look, and a home made look you are going for in this type of tatting. 🌹
DeleteOlá amiga !
ReplyDeleteSeu trabalhinho está muito lindo.
Mas ao meu entender, me parece cada vez mais complicado.
beijos
Yes this one is difficult and has lots of obstacles to overcome.
DeleteGosh that's a lot of flowers and a long way round, I am enjoying your progress with this doily, I am like Diane I have the book but not tried any patterns as yet.
ReplyDeleteLet's just says had this book for couple years and wanted to make this pattern and just got the nerve 💟
DeleteSounds a little mind boggling, I’m glad you have it figured out.
ReplyDeleteYea it is a brain teaser💙thats for sure😄
DeleteNon so lavorare con questa tecnica ma tu sei bravissima!
ReplyDeleteThanks 😄i know it is not for every one but hopefully interesting to watch😉💟
ReplyDeleteSo glad it is working for you! Thanks for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering whether it can be done in the following manner as well - make 1st SR, then make the central ring leaving BTS, continue with the rings on either side using the respective shuttle and joining each to the central ring; end with the SR.
Would you like to give it a go and see if it works?
Actually I did that to start with and it works too. I just got a bit more confused remember the side that attaches to doily and counting my 8 rings totally. It really is just personal preference. I also like that I can be more accurate with the bare threads between each ring and close it all up like an umbrella.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Carollyn! I was merely curious as to whether it would work or not. I enjoy discovering alternate paths, as you well know :-) And curiousity hasn't killed this old cat yet ;-P
DeleteLooks wonderful!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lesson and advice!! :)
Wow, your trick is mind boggling! I had to read everything a few times before getting it and I'm not sure I got it perfectly in the end either :D It must be one of those tricks where you need to actually try it yourself to understand it.
ReplyDeleteYea I had someone say they where actually going to try the pattern so I thought to might help. Some olderpatterns resemble this pattern too so it could help them
Deletewow!
ReplyDeletethe pattern among the "flowers" is interesting, which looks like net, I saw such once and only one time
I had such dress, and I loved it :)
