Doily 9th Row

I finished the 9th round of  Renulek's doily!

In one place I lived, I had to plant honeysuckle plants, and here (east Tennessee) they grow without asking!

This is what that flower brings, I love summer!

  1. Is that a real bird, it looks like an ornament. We have loads of honey suckle here and the bees love it...

    1. Yes it is a humming bird and very tiny! sometimes you think it is a bug and they love you to put out a feeder too! 4 parts water to 1 part sugar.
They are very entertaning and will show off. check Google to see if they are and when they come through your area.

    1. We find them very entertaining and if you don't put out the feeder they come to the door and ask!

  3. The doily is coming along very nicely. As kids, we used to drink the nectar from the honeysuckle plants growing in our backyards. It's a familiar sight here in Northern Virginia.

    1. Yes we just taught our Sunday school class how to do that :) It is an unforgettable childhood experience! I lived in Oklahoma that is where I had to purchase the plant to grow.

  4. Renulek has made a great design, and you tatted it perfectly. Honestly, I love white doilies,I use many of them in my living room (they are made in Bruges/Brugge in bobbin lace). My intention is to replace them all by self-made tatted ones.
My HB is looking over my shoulder at the hummer. We love its tiny feet, gripping at your feeder. So sweet!! so beautiful, so clever. I can hear their buzzing sound when I close my eyes.
Believe it or not, we have honeysucle as well blooming at the moment in our garden, but no humming birds.
I will look the hummer up, and try to identify it.

  5. I will post another picture of them on my next post, they are birds that migrate and seem to recognize the feeders and love watching us as much as we watch them, list year my daughter caught one I will try to look for the picture. they go into her garage and can't seem to fly out, so you have to put them out!

  6. Your doily is gorgeous. I can't wait to start mine, but I have to finish the Spring doily first. Can't have too many WIPs. Love the hummingbird. I have a feeder on my porch, too, but haven't seen one all summer.

    1. Sometimes your food goes sour and they don't like that or there is a mold that also grows in the sugar water too!

    1. Thank you, lots of people around here are not aware of them and don't even put feeders by a window, so if they come they would not notice them.
