Thanksgiving Day Tatted Lace

America's pilgrims set aside a day at the end of harvest to thank God for all they have, even in there struggles. We still celebrate this day calling it Thanksgiving Day!

words in picture " When we give thanks in all things, we see hardships and adversities in the context of the purpose of life." by Dallin H Oaks.
After making the fall leaves from two different patterns, still deciding how to arrange them. All are size 40 lizbeth colors.
This little beauty is from "le blogde frivole"  fun a quick after you get hang of it.

The larger maple leaf is from a book called "Celtic Tatting" leaves and flowers.

She does a wonderful job of explaining the twist and encourages you to experiment with making your own style for fun. After the first two I made one in about and hour and a half.

This one is a play one a little to bumpy hers looks better.

Idea of the size here.

This is another way to arrange, but I really plan on stitching the words in, I think :) I was also thinking of tatting more leaves and connecting them for a doily or bowl shape.

Tatted Candle Blunder!

Every thing went well, and I was modifying a pattern from Work Basket magazine

It was early in the morning and a bit in a hurry and grabbed the wrong bottle and like an idiot I kept going thinking I could blot it, it was thick glue "what was I thinking"

I just kept going .....
Well you can see it globed it was to thick to and too sticky.

This was the original pattern that is now public domain so you can see what I did with it.

Snowflake and a Handout Card!

I really enjoyed this one but it took 3 tries!

Jan Stawasz mixed his two patterns up.
Inside rings are numbered wrong and outer chains too, if you try this do the numbers on the doily page for the snowflake.

I am having fun handing out my cute little cards for my friends that do not tat! I had them made for me by Sophie at
(click on) flutter2me on ETSY

she has even place a little crystal on each one

1919 Delicate Snowflake

Truly timeless, all the patterns from this book, found here click on name Tina Frauberger, "Schiffchenspitze" most tatters know about this, but if you haven't checked it out, it is so worth it.
In case you don't have the translate app for phone to translate print, I used 6 double stitches in all chains between picots and rings of 4 double stitches separated by 3 picots.

Thanks to Georgia Seitz for placing it to download :)

Tatted Lace Veterans Day Poppy Finished!

This Pattern is free on Muskaan's TIPS blog, and I love it!

I only changed two things, I just added a picot on top chain of petal, to add her roll tatting too (this part fun).  Petal little tricky but once I got it it took very little time to finish.

I thought I would show construction pictures.

pulling the front center flower part through, and adding the greenery

I flipped the extra thread and kept encapsulating back up.

Cut off ends and sewed the encapsulating thread into secure this one thread.
The second thing I did different was the buds were made with clunies instead

I loved making this and it was easier than thought, I will make more, thanks Muskaan :)

Making Felt Veterans Day Poppy!

A Big thank you to all who serve past and present! In America we have Veterans Day and Memorial Day and This flower is now used for both days.

How to make another "Thank You Veterans Poppy"!

6 felt almost heart shapes (smaller) with black beads sewn on then blanket stitched together.

6 larger of same shape and pretty black button!

Put together like picture.

Gather a bit to give lifelike petals.

Add pin or use safety pin, this took 3 hours.  Tried to make it look like Brises koloruje found on flicker
I know no tatting:( does not happen to often.

Snowflake Treatments

New shuttles for my collection, (from David Reed Smith)and love them. This is size 80 and they are working well, worth checking out and great price too!

I used a product called "Stiffy" by PLAID, or you could add water to white glue. Completely submerge flake.

Press firmly to blot with paper towel.

I hung this one to dry it came out well no pinning it down. When dry I pressed with iron.  I have used other methods for the flakes, this is just one. I am experimenting on yellowing over the years.

This is little flake is called Adan by Jon Ysoff.

I love to add fishing line to hang them so just there beauty shows.

This one is Photogenic so it go an extra picture.

And don't make too much fun of my crochet work it has been a very long time, I plan on making a long scarf with this pattern is called Chunky Joy Joy
You may want to click on the name to  see what it is supposed to look like :) I do plan on adding flowers to this to change the look :)

Snowflake Correction Tips

This one was another from "Elegant Gems" by Jon Yusoff called Galuh.

The mistake is here where the needle points to, I did not make the join

This is tatted with a size 40 so I used white sewing thread (that is thinner) and whipped stitched it with one back stitch in to hold tight and then attach at picot, and down the other side, with a little back stitch to tie off.

To finish off I did same with the ends. To thread the needle I do mash it down with teeth  and flatten the thread to poke it through the eye of needle then snip off the moistened thread.
Can you see the thread? It is hidden this way.
When I took this  my dog saw another mistake, I forgot to tat a chain                                         and so that was corrected too.
