More with J.S. doily and Navajo Weaving!

I got a tad more done by Christmas day, we threw it on super frozen snow in Grand Canyon.

Museum picture of  Navajo Woman weaving.

An actual old loom with work still on it, in a gift shop in Grand Canyon.

Below are the local plants, and the colors that each plant makes to dye the wool for the blankets.
Below are dolls sold a the gift shop of a traditional Navajo woman.

They make and sell these miniature looms with a tiny blanket so cute I think of all my blogger that weave and dye yarn :)
Below snow clouds moving in.
As we were leaving on Christmas Day the snow clouds started moving in
(My Youngest son and I)

Was fun to see on Christmas Day too.

  1. Wow! Your Grand Canyon pictures are fantastic And that turquoise necklace is really beautiful - in the last post.

I've always wanted to go there and once was within about 150 miles of the place, but had to drive home, which is a LONG way from the Canyon, so could not face the drive! I would really like to go back...

    1. Oh Wow you will have to go back! but there are lots of fun things you must have seen 150 miles from Grand Canyon Although I think it was a record cold. this was 26 hours of just driving so we took several days to get there. I have lived closer earlier in my life so I have been in much warmer weather :)

  3. I love that you are taking pictures of your doily in such unusual places! Dave and I went to the Grand Canyon for our 25th anniversary. However, it was in the summer. It was beautiful, and I would love to go back some day.

  7. Your pictures are amazing, being country and western music fans. And of course the Navajo Indians do appear in the country music, the first time Vernon took me to a music night they were all dressed up in Indian costumes, I have some of the Navajo beads oh I would have loved to see it all. Do you remember be-stitched did an eagle pattern, I tatted the eagle and got a picture of the Grand Canyon and framed it for his birthday. It's on my blog somewhere would be a November posting.
Wish I could have been with you what a great Christmas Day.

    1. Oh how fun to to dress up and there is something magical about native american culture and designs all the tribes have different styles that reflect the area they lived in and I wish every one could see what I saw and meet the nice people we met along the way. I will check out this eagle and card sounds wonderful!
