Memorial Day Brooch

This is my Pinchicks pick, and this week as our holiday weekend.
We remember those who have fallen serving our country.

So we could live free. This event opens our summer in the
U.S,A.
Below is the construction of this lovely Victorian Brooch.
And marks the time when holiday began, after our country's Civil War
in 1867

The first layer is rings and chains in a size 80 blue.

Second  layer is white size 40

The third is size 20 in red and all are directly tatted onto the bezel.
The Pinterest brooch had no layers.

You could take a little picture to place in bezel and glue it with a glass dome.
the Pinterest Brooches had little tatting in their ovals,
that were slightly stuffed like I did.

Hope You Have a Wonderful Family Weekend :)

  11. Because I have an interest in the Victorian era (to visit, but glad I didn't 'live' back then!), I also love to embellish things in an 'over-the-top' way; and you certainly have succeeded here! This is just gorgeous! I also collect small flag pins, but love the butterfly (bee)?

Back in 2009 I did a very simple 'patriotic' tatted pin using Sue Hanson's Celtic Motif, and I did it in red, white and blue threads. The amusing thing is I used the same red/white/blue ribbon that you used here to set it off! I also have a lot of 'bezels' in oval or circle shapes, and have glued velvet paper with a tatted piece, but never thought of adding a 'padded' piece. Great ideas! Wonderful tatting!

    1. I love that ribbon and just found it this year and will do something for the fourth of July too this was enjoyable and small enough to not get board or overwhelming. I hope you can make one and post, sure you will be able to add more than I did :) and yes I agree victorian times is just for admirering :)
