Beginning Tatted Lace Baby Bonnet by Anne Orr

I love bonnets, and understanding old patterns with out pictures is not easy
(Upper cap)

My large picots were not large enough, the rings would not lay side by side and I had to more to go, so I trashed this one and made larger picots

I left long ends so I could make false picot and start next round hiding thread in split ring and still not trimming the ends so I could move to second round.

There still a curve to to fit around a baby head but I ironed this for fun.

This is next round #3  the picture at top has round 4 started
The very next round started on this endless doily :)

This is why once again no school no driving :)

Your doily is still growing ever beautiful!! :)
My husband is a truckdriver and is in Nashville this morning. He said it isn't too bad(but then again, we are driving around with about 2 foot of snow here so we are used to it. Have a good day, stay safe and warm!! :)

    1. For us it is unusual and can't remember the kids ever missing this much school. I hear there is another one coming tomorrow.

  2. That baby bonnet is so cute that I had considered tackling it one day, but I would have to re-write the whole pattern in modern notations. I hate trying to read those old patterns. Your monster doily is coming along great.

    1. I like it so much I was thinking of rewriting some old favorites because it is sad so see that no one wants to try them because of the struggle.

  4. Looking forward to the "rest of the story". And I like your idea of rewritting some of these older patterns so more of us can make them. There are fantastic patterns but seemingly impossible with those long written instructions. You'd be doing the tatting world a favor with each pattern you rewrite.
I'm in OR and we've had very little snow this winter. Enjoy yours.

    1. Yes, I have enjoyed the bonnets and will do this. I am taking more pictures than I post on each of the bonnets so I don't for get, and need to decide to diagram or just put numbers in actual photos.

  6. A nice start to the bonnet. They look so cute on live models:-) The monster doily is looking good, too. I can see why you call it endless. We've missed out on the big snows this year - so far. We could actually use some moisture but I could do without the cold. And we've been lucky on that as well. But the winter is not over yet.

    1. Wow I did not notice that others were not getting snow. We mostly get rain cold rain by rain and for around here it is something to talk about. I do wonder if I can hold out on the big doily and thinking of finishing this round and putting it up for a bit :)

  7. It's a shame that people are put off by old patterns, you've done a great job in sticking with it. Keep warm!
