Nosegay / Brides Bouquet Base

Beginnings of  the nosegay just sounded like fun and below is the pattern I can say the hardest part is the giant ring at the start I am making this in size 80.

I actually cant wait to place the flowers inside the middle
I have made several brides and bridesmaids bouquets but never added tatting.

This final page even has the sugar starch recipe too!
Hope you all are doing well
This time of year I have to many "irons in the fire"
blogging is scanty take care.

  2. Every time I see your beautiful tatting it makes me want to get mine out, but I have so many other things at the moment, I promise myself that I will get back to it.
Can't wait to see this one finished.

  3. wow the centre with 90ds in size 80 is a challenge! The hole looks smaller in the page than in yours. It's a little and delicate tatting, a pretty bouquet base, your bride is going to love it

  5. Wow, did you do it as a true ring, that must've been difficult? Even as a mock ring it would be hard to handle. It's going to look lovely!

  9. WARNING! - Do not use the sugar starch recipe! If you store the piece you use it on, it will attract bugs and rodents. I know this from experience, mother used sugar starch on all her tatting, and when she died in 2003 it had been mostly eaten up and I had to toss it. She started tatting in the 1930's, had many blue ribbons for her work, and it all had to go into the trash can because of that accursed sugar starch. Could not even save her ribbons because she stored them with the tatting. Sugar starch absorbs any dampness in the air, it soaks into whatever is around it.

  10. I can see how that would be tempting for little bugs and mice, I do like how you could wash it out though. Maybe before storage.
