On the Edge with Buttons and Occhi and rooting Pepermint!

Well, I made another bookmark from Robin's bookmarks collection.

I decided to make an edging only altering one of the pattern slightly.
I have made the edging with a size 20 thread and I am almost half way around.

Wanting to accommodate the baby buttons that matched with the color and the hankie that Margaret sent to me as a gift a while back!

So It's been less than a week, by placing mint in a vase with plan water we can already see the roots appear.  When I get a good amount of roots I will transfer them outside we normally have a mild fall so hopefully everything will work out
stay tuned.  Hugs from Carollyn.

  6. Ah, I’d wondered if these patterns could easily be made into edgings. Very interesting addition of buttons, I haven’t seen that on an edging before.

  8. I always wonder whether beads (& buttons) on a hanky edging won't hamper it's usage? It looks very good, though! Nice adaptation :-)
I used to propagate mint similarly, though the leaves we have here are very different from your variety. I would choose stems that were a dark violet/magenta (mature stems). Being able to pluck off fresh leaves from one's own 'garden' is indeed minty ;-P

    1. That is very interesting I do have a spearmint and the leaves are furry like and they say not to plant them close together so the dont cross-pollenate.

  9. Lovely bookmark, I have just finished another bookmark and I was looking at and thinking it might make a nice edging.
That’s a beautiful edging, I like the use of the buttons not sure if it’s practically when using it. You matched the colour on my hanky beautifully

  10. Now days hankies are just decorations in blue Jean back pockets if that. I'm okay with it😃

  11. Lovely bookmark! The baby buttons really add an interesting design element to your hanky! I love fresh mint, and peppermint is my favorite. I've not had luck keeping it alive. I have an idea that when Dave weeds the garden he forgets about my mint and pulls it out.
